Ray- General Manager of Major Florida Company- From FIRED to HIRED! (VIP Day)
This client had enjoyed a long history of success at one company until he made a big mistake that cost him his career. The industry he was in was relatively small so the news of his departure spread like wildfire.
He was given a years’ severance and by month 8 was getting nervous about the fact that there were NO prospects. His outplacement firm that hired Mary was giving up hope that his client would be able to be placed in a similar job. They hired her for up to 8 hours and didn’t know if that would be enough for this very challenging client they now served.
Mary worked with her client in a VIP day where they reviewed his strengths and weaknesses. They evaluated his life mentally, physically, spiritually, financially. There were a lot of frank conversations about the “reality” of the situation such a the fact that as a 53 year old aging and out of shape executive was competing with the 35-40 year old executives who didn’t have the high financial requirements.
Discussions such as how to address “the incident” that occurred and whether to look within the industry or start over in a new one. At age 53, the options looked bleak to him.
Mary encouraged Ray to become open about his situation, and to understand how the incident tarnished his reputation and to start volunteering and administering severe self-discipline in areas that were possibly “questionable” to the outside critic.
Over the next few weeks Ray went to work recreating his life in those areas. He started networking as Mary suggested and within 3 weeks he had landed a terrific interview out West. Two weeks later he accepted the new job making $200,000 more in income with a terrific company.
